The new Optus flagship retail store on Bourke Street Mall, Melbourne provides an experimental and immersive shopping experience. The store offers in-store experiences to customers across six interactive zones – gaming, health and fitness, garage, lounge and living, outdoor, home office and home security, and the opportunity to view an expanded range of devices and accessories. The store's concept aimed to transform the conventional telco store model and embrace Melbourne's uniqueness, fostering a blend of culture, community, and technology.

The Greater Group's project brief was to create curved extrusion fittings for the new store that represented the Melbourne city tram lines. Aglo was in the product development phase of new Mondolux Impact Curve 80 Linear LED & Extrusion – a series of straight and curved linear modules which are combined to create endless luminaire shapes and architectural effects – which suited the requirements of the project perfectly. The Australian Made Impact Curve 80 provides customisable curved decorative lighting options that broadens the possibilities for designers, architects and engineers to unleash their creativity – the limit is your imagination.

Aglo product engineers completed the design of the Impact Curve 80 extrusion, creating a series of shapes and curves to represent the Melbourne City Tramline – each with a unique length. To address the challenge of achieving uniform visual brightness levels due to the intricate linear-to-node variations, Aglo's Lighting Design experts meticulously devised a comprehensive reflected ceiling plan. This plan took into consideration the building's structure and prominent features, aiding in establishing consistent lux levels and dimensions. Other Mondolux products include Catania Maxi Spotlights, Polar and Esen Downlights. Fittings were specified with CRI90 & 3000K CCT

The project spanned an 8-month duration and incorporated product development and engineering, lighting design, quoting, ordering, local manufacturing, delivery and project management. Mondolux was pleased to be a part of this flagship project showcasing the brand new Australian Made Impact Curve 80.
